How often should I replace the XWF?
The manufacturer says about every 6 months or 170 gallons, whichever comes first. Replace sooner if water flow drops.
Is the XWF NSF certified?
Yes. It is listed for NSF/ANSI 42, NSF/ANSI 53, NSF/ANSI 401 (source links below). Certification applies to specific reduction claims, and contaminants are not necessarily in all users' water.
Are cheaper aftermarket filters OK?
Some aftermarket filters carry their own NSF certifications (listed above), but certification doesn't guarantee fit. Some refrigerators, such as GE models using RPWFE, check for a chip in the genuine filter.
